Tony Sowders

Tony Sowders, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, went to be with his Savior on October 20, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on May 9, 1947. He graduated Friendsville High School in 1965.

A proud veteran, Tony served in the Army during the Vietnam War, an experience that instilled in him a deep sense of commitment and dedication to his country. He carried these values into all aspects of his life, bringing the spirit of service to his family and friends.

Tony was not only a veteran but also a true embodiment of faith. He shared the love of God with everyone he met, touching countless lives along the way.

Beyond his military service and spiritual commitments, Tony enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, particularly hunting and fishing. He found solace in nature, often sharing these cherished moments with his loved ones.

Tony is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Ann Sowders (Patsy); his loving daughter, Sarah Sowders; his cherished granddaughters, Seana (Cody) Phillips and Macee Tuck (fiancée Adam Lawson); as well as his brother, Ted (Sarah) Sowders; his sisters, Pam (Jim) Byrd and Connie (Mike) Heiskell; and many other friends and family members who held him dear.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Sowders; his mother, Sarah Ruth Sowders; stepmother, Anne Sowders; his brother, Robert Sowders; his son, David Sowders; and his stepson, Shawn Tuck. Though they are no longer with us, their memories will forever be a comfort to those who remain.

Tony Sowders will be remembered for his unwavering faith, and his profound love for family and friends. His legacy of kindness and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to walk beside him in life.

A memorial service will be held at Laurel Bank Baptist Church, in Friendsville TN, at a later date.
