Robert Claeys

Robert Claeys, age 80 of Athens, TN went to be with Lord early Monday morning after a brief illness.

Robert proudly served his country in the Vietnam war, as a Navy Corpsman for eight years. He began his nursing career in 1973 with the Veterans Administration. During his career he was also a flight nurse in the Air force for ten years, before retiring 1999.

Once Robert retired he embraced the cowboy life style.He lived for horse back ridding and working cattle. He was a dedicated Husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to spend time with his great grand babies and brag on them.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Clarence and Christine Claeys; sister, Peggy Hearn; daughter, Renee Claeys.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Valora Claeys; sons, Robert A Claeys (Yvonna) of Fruita CO, Randall Claeys (Stephanie) of Grand Lake CO, and Roger Claeys of Grand Lake CO; daughter, Rebecca Hoffman (Ed) of Charleston TN; six grandsons; five great grand daughters; and siblings, Pat, Annie, Don, Dianna, Jim, Marianna, and Carol.

Visitation Will be held Friday, September 2nd from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 3rd at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Hammonds Cemetery.
