Richard "Pastor Rick" Patterson, a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on Sunday morning, August 17, 2025, surrounded by his family. He crossed life's final finish line with grace, leaving behind a legacy built on faith, love, and cherished memories.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 And now just as the checkered flag waves to mark the end of the race well-run, we know Richard has crossed life's finish line. The race may be complete, but the legacy of faith, love and determination remains.

Born in Shelbyville, Illinois, Rick developed a passion for racing during his youth, where the open backroads ignited a spark that would eventually lead him to the racetrack. His love for racing took a backseat to his commitment of his faith and the call of the Lord, a journey that led him to serve numerous congregations where he shared his heart with others. Rick's unwavering love for God was paramount, followed closely by his devotion to his family, who were always at the forefront of his thoughts and prayers.

Rick shared an extraordinary bond with his beloved wife, Dee, with whom he spent an incredible 62 years of marriage. Together, they raised a beautiful family that includes their children; Gina (Scott) Monroe, Michael (Cindy) Patterson, MaryAnn (Randy) Wilks, Andy (Melissa) Patterson, Amber (Bradley) Tucker, and Ashley Patterson (Edward Russell). Rick's role as a father was magnified by the love he bestowed upon his grandchildren; Cody & Jennifer Monroe, Kari (Josh) Elkins, Kadi Rogers, Kaci (Noah) Armstrong, Andrew (Annika) Patterson, Ethan (Morgan) Patterson, Christopher, Thomas, Bear, Addy and Ty Patterson, Emma and Mia Tucker. As a great-grandfather, he took immense pride in his great-grandchildren; Leigha and Easton Monroe, Ellis Lott, Everett and Elsie Elkins, Claire and Henry Armstrong. Each moment spent with them was a treasure he held dear.

Rick's family also included his trusted companion, a beloved dog named Shadow, who brought joy and comfort to his life. He loved to travel the world and experience God's majestic beauty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruby Patterson; his brother, Bob (Marilyn) Patterson; and his great grandsons, Alden and Elijah Elkins. May their memories always be a blessing.

A graveside service will be held on August 19, 2025, at McMinn Memory Gardens in Athens, Tennessee, at 2:00 PM with Art Clawson officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather together to celebrate the remarkable life of Rick Patterson, who touched so many lives with his kindness, unwavering faith, and boundless love.
