Michael Wayne Ratledge, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on May 29, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on August 11, 1956, in Athens, Michael was deeply rooted in his community and dedicated to both his family and his work.
Michael was a longtime employee of Heil Trailer and Maxwell Industries, where he poured his heart into his career. His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family, whom he cherished above all else. He took great pride in being a supportive husband to his beloved wife, Linda Ratledge, and a caring father to his children, Tyler (Amy) Ratledge and Libby Hyde. Michael's face would light up at the sight of his grandchildren, Brantley Ratledge, and Bishop and Gracelynn Hyde, with whom he shared countless joyful moments.
A member and Deacon of East Athens Baptist Church, Michael was actively involved in his faith community. He taught Sunday School and found fulfillment in sharing his knowledge and compassion with others. His warm spirit and sense of duty will long be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
In his leisure time, Michael engaged in hobbies that brought him joy, including fly fishing, cheering for Tennessee Football, following NASCAR, and collecting model cars.
Michael is survived by his wife, Linda Ratledge of Athens; son Tyler (Amy) Ratledge of Cleveland; daughter Libby Hyde of Athens; grandchildren Brantley Ratledge of Cleveland and Bishop and Gracelynn Hyde of Athens; brother Jimmy (Deanna) Ratledge of Athens; sister Ginger Weese of Athens; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Harold (Martha) Priest and Randy (Brenda) Mullins; and several nieces and nephews.
