Kay Frances Hammonds

Kay Frances Hammonds, age 84, passed away Thursday May 28, 2026 at her residence in Cleveland, TN surrounded by her family and friends. She was a member of Candies Creek Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly. Kay truly represented Christ and His love in such a way that has and will continue to touch and bless hearts. We are so thankful for her encouraging spirit and loving heart that has touched so many! Despite her disabilities, she had a positive attitude and encouraged everyone she met. She had lifelong friends that she talked to daily and never met a stranger.

Kay loved to do diamond art and gave away 100’s of her pieces to anyone and everyone that loved her work. Her career spanned years, including working in accounting and banking, as well as Proffitt’s in Cleveland, where she made several life long friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Marshall Hammonds; son James Matthew (Matt) Hammonds; brother, Steve Scroggins; parents, George Robert and Willie Mae Scroggins Qualls; her Grandparents, John Henry and Nalia Kate Shelton Scroggins and John Nelson and Margaret Isabella Jenkins Qualls.

She is survived by several cousins; and many close friends.
