Kathleen Whelan Hill

Kathleen Whelan Hill, 82, passed away on January 15, 2025.

She was born on January 4th, 1943, to William Whelan and Mabel Whelan Godbout in Bogalusa, Louisiana. A graduate of Bradley Central High School. She was retired from Harris, Williamson, Trewhitt and Zius CPAs. Co-owner of The Stitching Post in Calhoun, she was an avid sewer, making clothes, quilts, and Christmas tree ornaments for many. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James R. Hill, Sr., daughter, Susan Hill Finnell, infant son, William Robert Hill; father, William Wyman Whelan; mother and stepfather, Mabel Whelan and Peter Godbout.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine (Mike) Rakestraw of McDonald, TN; son, Jimmy (Missy) Hill of Cleveland, TN; son-in-law, Joel Finnell, Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Sloane (Brently) White, Knoxville, TN, Chelsea (Andrew) Nipper, McDonald, TN, Holden Rakestraw, McDonald, TN, Amanda (Dylan) Galloway, Harriman, TN, Andew Hill, Cleveland, TN, Harrison Finnell, Cleveland, TN, Katie Finnell, Cleveland, TN; great granddaughters, Andi and Averi Nipper, Eleanor and Charlotte Galloway; brother, Wyman Whelan, Charleston, TN; sister, Ann Whelan Robbins, Littleton CO; stepsister, Louise Godbout Sullivan, Troup, TX; stepbrother, Mike Godbout, Houston TX; very special friend and caregiver, Calvin Jackson.

Funeral Mass will be held 3:00 PM Monday January 27th at St. Therese Catholic Church, Cleveland, TN, with Reverend Fr. Michael F. Nolan officiating. Burial will follow at New Friendship Cemetery located at 1344 Chatata Valley Road, Cleveland TN.

Visitation will be held 1:00-3:00 prior to Mass.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Haney/Hill Closet at Charleston Elementary School to provide for children in need of food and clothing, located at 8797 Hiwassee Street Charleston, TN 37310
