JW “Jay” Thurman, 94, of Decatur passed away on January 1, 2024.
Jay was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years Joy Bell Thurman; parents, Leon and Dollie Thurman and siblings.
Survivors include daughters, Faye Hawkins, Decatur, and Margaret Calfee, Cleveland; three generations of grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Union Grove Baptist Church, Decatur from 12-2 Saturday, January 6th with the funeral at 2 with Rev. Toby Brogden officiating. Interment will follow at Short Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
