Judy Wilson, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Athens community, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Born on September 29, 1947, in Athens, Tennessee, Judy’s life was marked by remarkable dedication, love, and selflessness.

Judy spent many years working as a registered nurse at several local healthcare facilities, providing compassionate care to countless patients. Her genuine kindness extended beyond her professional life into her family and community. She spent 61 years supernaturally caring for her special needs daughter and a loving son.

Known for her love of yard work and gardening flowers, Judy found joy in nurturing the beauty of her garden. An animal lover at heart, she treasured her dog and three cats. Judy also delighted in canning food and watching hummingbirds.

Judy’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, and after a courageous battle with illness, she was mercifully called into the arms of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Her passing brings sorrow, but also peace in the knowledge that she rests in everlasting grace.

She is survived by her devoted daughter Shannon D. Thomas and her loving son Nathan R. Thomas. Judy’s legacy lives on through her grandchildren James Blake Thomas, Brycen Ray Thomas, Bradley Nathan Thomas, and her great-grandchildren Laken Carter Thomas, Colter Grant Thomas, and Blakley Grace Thomas. She was also a treasured friend to many special individuals who brought light and companionship to her life.

Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles Ray Wilson and her parents, Floyd Ray Partain and Alma Sue Million.
