Judy Bortle

Judy Sharon Bortle, age 77 of Athens passed, passed away Monday March 31,2025 surrounded by her family.

Judy moved to Houston, Texas as a young girl and became a true Texan at heart.  She loved horses and was a member of Surburban Ranches Riding Club for over 40 years.  Judy made many life long friends there and was cherished by so many.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Rick Bortle, her parents Henry and Alene Pruett, and her brother Danny Pruett.

Judy is survived by her son Bryan Bortle (JoLynn); daughter Brandi South (James); Judy leaves a legacy of 5 grandchildren and 2 great children, Amanda McShera, Mason Bortle, JJ South, Sadie South, Cody South, Charlotte McShera, and Olivia McShera.

Judy’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Dominion Senior Living, for their special care.

A celebration of life service will be planned for a later date.
