Jerald Ervin

Oscar Jerald Ervin, 75, of Athens passed away Monday, January 9th.

Preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Zula Ervin; sister, Nola Jean Price; niece, Rebecca Ervin; father and mother-in-law, JP and Odell McPhail.

He was retired from Coca-Cola after 34 years of service. He continued working with his nephew until Fall 2022. He was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Tabernacle Church.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Peggy McPhail Ervin; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Kimberly Ervin; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Joseph Vance; grandsons who were his world, Landon Ervin and Hayden Vance; brothers, McKinley (Faye) Ervin, David Ervin (June Dillard) and Jerry (Willene) Ervin; sisters, Buena (Bob) Smith, Alma Thompson and Linda Dodson; sister-in-law Betty Joyce Tallent; brother-in-law, Dennis (Sandy) McPhail; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm Thursday January 12th at Fairview Baptist Tabernacle, Sweetwater with the funeral at 7 with Pastor Johnny Carr officiating.

Interment will be Friday January 13th at 11 am at Pond Hill Cemetery, Athens with Reverend Stan Cantrell officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10 am at Good Samaritan funeral home and proceed to Pond Hill Cemetery.
