Brenda Sue Edmundson

Brenda Sue Edmundson, 80, passed away on November 29, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Mary Shearl Edmundson.

Brenda was a 1963 graduate of Powell High School and retired from South Central Bell. She was devoted to many clubs, she was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers, former Chief Job Steward of the CWA Union, life member of Beta Sigma Phi, and Red Hat Society. After retirement she attended Broadcasting School and Cooper Institute. Taking her hobbies to task she wrote articles for community papers and letters to the editor of the Knox News Sentinel, and she was a published poetry writer. She volunteered at the James White Fort, Tennessee Valley Fair and Fantasy of Trees. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Halls where she found peace before her death.

Survivors include her son, Stephen Maples of North Carolina; brother, Johnny (Frances) Edmundson of Athens; nephew, Will Edmundson of South Carolina; 7 godchildren and her beloved cat, Chloe.

Brenda wanted to extend a huge thank you to her caregiver, Carla Graves.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Athens, TN at 2:00 PM.
